Reviewing Process
1. By submitting their papers for publication in Agora. Social Sciences Journal, authors agree to the terms of the peer review process.
2. Within five working days, the editorial board informs the author of the acceptance of his/her article for consideration.
3. During the preliminary review, the editor-in-chief assesses the formal and thematic relevance of the submitted articles. If there are no significant comments, then the article is sent to the relevant members of the editorial board who are experts in this field. In the absence of a member of the Editorial Board who is an expert on the relevant topic, the Editor-in-Chief determines the external reviewers of the submitted article (see paragraph 4). Reviewers should not be affiliated with the author's research institution. The reviewer should be neither a colleague nor a close acquaintance of the author of the text under review (conflict of interest).
4. The Editor-in-Chief selects two reviewers for each article from among leading Ukrainian or foreign experts. Reviewers (both members of the editorial board and external) should be well-known experts in the relevant topic of the article and have publications in the field of research (at least one publication in the last 3 years). Reviews are confidential and anonymous (double-blind review). The author and reviewer remain anonymous during the review process.
5. Reviewers must not disclose any information about the reviewed text until it is published. Duration of review up to two months.
6. In addition to comments regarding the subject matter of the paper, reviewers provide the editorial board with their opinion concerning the publication:
- accept for publication without any changes
- accept for publication after a minor/major revision
- reject .
7. If the evaluation of the reviewers on some articles diverging, the Editorial board takes a special decision: accepted/reject those articles or assign new reviewers. Rejected articles may not be considered again. The Editorial board not discussing with authors about the reasons of articles’ rejection.
8. Once the peer review process is completed, authors are notified about its outcome. They receive the reviews of their papers (without reviewers’ names). The reviewers’ names are published once a year. The revised paper shall be submitted for consideration of the previous experts. Reconsideration of the paper lasts up to two months.
9. If an article has been accepted for publication, the author remains in contact with the editorial board while preparing the final version of the text.
10. Having read the reviews and the final version of the paper, the Editorial Board makes a decision on paper publication.
