THE FUNCTIONING OF MILITARY VOCABULARY IN CONTEMPORARY MEDIA DISCOURSE

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the functioning of military vocabulary in the contemporary Ukrainian media discourse. The relevance of the research problem is due to the significant role of military vocabulary in the modern information space, especially in the context of armed conflicts and a full-scale war in Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to characterize the specifics of the use of military vocabulary in contemporary media discourse. The basis of the methodological approach in this research paper is a comprehensive systematic study based on a qualitative combination of theoretical research methods. The paper examines the concept of “military vocabulary”, analyzes the problem of classifying military vocabulary and characterizes the specifics of the functioning of military vocabulary in modern media discourse. Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities of the use of military vocabulary in modern mass media, in particular in popular online news publications of Ternopil region. It is proved that military vocabulary in the texts of online publications of Ternopil region is a reflection of current events in our country, it actively influences the formation of public opinion and perception of events taking place at the present stage in Ukraine. The main results obtained in the framework of this research should be considered the substantiation of the specifics of the functional features of the use of lexemes formed by the morphological method, the lexical-semantic method and the analysis of the use of phraseological units in online publications of Ternopil region. The results of this research, as well as the conclusions drawn on their basis, are of practical value for philologists, linguists, linguists, teachers, lecturers, and other specialists who study the problem of the dynamics of the lexical composition of the Ukrainian language during the war period.
