Formatting requirements

The scholarly journal Scientific Notes of the National University of Ostroh Academy: Psychology Series accepts research articles of no fewer than 10 pages, including the list of references.

The manuscript must be prepared in A4 format using Microsoft Word, Times New Roman, 14 pt, with 1.5 line spacing. The first-line indent should be 1.25 cm. Margins: left – 30 mm, right –15 mm, top – 20 mm, bottom – 20 mm. The text must be submitted without headers or footers, without hyphenation, and with page numbering.

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically in .doc or .rtf format. Submitted materials must be thoroughly edited, stylistically and technically proofread, and formatted in accordance with the journal requirements.

Throughout the text, authors must use a consistent style of quotation marks – « ». Initials should be separated from surnames by a non-breaking space.

The manuscript should be arranged in the following order

– UDC of the article;
– author’s / authors’ first name and surname;
– academic degree, academic title, position;
– name of institution;
– e-mail;
– ORCID;
– Scopus Author ID (if available);
– title of the article in Ukrainian;
– abstract in Ukrainian;
– keywords in Ukrainian;
– author information in English;
– title of the article in English;
– abstract in English;
– keywords in English;
– main text of the article;
– List of References;
– References.

Technical formatting of the opening elements

The UDC should be placed in the upper right corner.

The author’s / authors’ first name and surname should be given in bold, 14 pt, centered.

The academic degree, academic title, position, and name of institution should be given in italics, 14 pt, centered.

The title of the article should be written in capital letters, bold, and centered.

Abstract requirements

After the title of the article, the abstract and 5–7 keywords should be provided in both Ukrainian and English. The abstract must be a concise and accurate summary of the article, reflecting the main findings and conclusions of the study. It is recommended that the abstract reproduce the logic of the article: introduction, aim and objectives, methods, results, conclusions.

The Ukrainian abstract must contain at least 50 words.

The English abstract must contain at least 250 words.

One blank line should be left after the abstract, followed by the main text of the article.

Requirements for the structure of the main text

The following structural parts must be clearly distinguished in the article:

– Problem statement;
– Analysis of recent research and publications;
– Aim and objectives of the study;
– Presentation of the main material;
– Conclusions;
– References.

In the subsection “Analysis of recent research and publications”, it is also advisable to indicate the previously unresolved aspects of the general problem addressed in the article. The titles of the structural parts must be highlighted in bold.

Citation format

References to sources should be provided in square brackets, for example: [3], [7], [5, p. 27]. The number indicates the corresponding source in the reference list. Square brackets [ ] should not be typed using the equation editor.

List of References

After the main text, a List of References should be provided, arranged alphabetically in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015. The bibliographic description of each source must include a DOI, if available.

Prohibition on the use of scholarly works from the aggressor state

Citing in the text and including in the bibliographic lists any sources published in Russian in any country, as well as sources published in any other language on the territory of Russia, is prohibited.

References

After the List of References, the section References should be provided. This section duplicates the List of References in Latin script. Sources originally published in Cyrillic must be given in transliterated form; if necessary, an English translation of the title should be provided in square brackets after the transliterated title. Sources in the References section should be arranged in the same order and under the same numbers as in the List of References.

Technical requirements for text formatting

– do not use additional spacing for text formatting;
– do not create paragraph indents using tabs or multiple spaces;
– do not use the Enter key for artificial line breaks;
– do not insert manual hyphenation using a hyphen;
– do not use a hyphen instead of a dash;
– all words should be separated by a single space;
– do not automatically enable widow/orphan control.

Illustrations

Illustrations must be of high quality and suitable for printing. Figures and graphs should be inserted in jpeg, bmp, tif formats with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Figures must be numbered and captioned; the caption should be placed below the illustration with the abbreviation “Fig.” Diagrams and flowcharts should be placed after the first reference to them in the text. Since the journal is printed in black and white, background fills and color should not be used in graphs, charts, and diagrams.

Tables

Each table must have a title. The word “Table” should be placed above the table. The minimum font size in a table is 8 pt. Table cells should not be filled with color. Table captions must follow the same formatting style as the rest of the article.

Formulae

Formulae should be prepared using Microsoft Equation 3.0, centered, and, if necessary, numbered with Arabic numerals in parentheses on the right. Lengthy mathematical formulae and complex notation should be used only where necessary.
